Have you always been involved in fitness or exercise?
No, I hadn’t worked out in over 5 years.
If no, what brought you to PowerCamp?
I was really depressed and very overweight. I needed to lose weight. I weighed 145kg just before I started and knew that if I didn’t do something I would not have a very long life.
Did you have a goal when you first started PowerCamp? If yes what were/are they?
To get healthy, lose weight and start to feel better in the way I was thinking. To help with the Arthritis in my knees because I was finding it hard to walk.
Have you reached a goal or have you achieved what you originally set out to do?
I have in the sense that my depression is so much better and I am now starting to wean myself off my anti depression tablets. My weight also dropped by 39kg and I can walk a lot better.
Has PowerCamp helped you achieve your goal or move closer to it?
Finding the perfect trainer in Vicki Smith has helped me so much, I am so indebted to her and all of her help. Doing the training has made me stronger not just in body, but also in mind.
What would you say to someone thinking of trying PowerCamp?
There’s so much I can say, but there’s not enough paper to write it. I would say give it a go, you will be surprised at what you can do.
Biggest obstacles you have had to overcome on your fitness journey?
Walking into PowerCamp and being the biggest person and oldest there.
Do you have sources if inspiration? If so, what are they?
It doesn’t matter how old you are or how overweight you are or how depressed you are or how much Arthritis you have. Just take that first step and make that first call, you won’t be sorry.
It will hurt.
It will take time.
It will require dedication.
It will require willpower.
You will need to make healthy decisions.
It requires sacrifice.
You will need to push your body to its max.
There will be temptation.
But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it’s worth it.
